Abstract

Learn what Alice is all about. The Alice software system is open source and is provided free by Carnegie Mellon University. Many schools are beginning to use Alice to teach the introductory programming course. This full day, hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to Alice. Some of the topics to be included in the workshop are: getting started with Alice and the development environment, Alice fundamentals, developing and programming with logical structures, developing event-driven programs in Alice, and testing and debugging your application.

Attendees will learn to quickly and easily create event-driven applications. Emphasis will be on a well-designed interface and the use of object-based programming by using 3D virtual objects. The workshop format will include sample applications with additional exercises provided for further practice.
