The Association for Computer Educator's in Texas has been in existence for over 40 years. We serve our membership of faculty,
staff, and administrators from high schools, colleges and universities from all over the state of Texas.
ACET was the driving force behind the implementation of computer literacy education in Texas public schools beginning in 1981.
ACET is a unique organization whose focus today is on offering education and training for high school, college and university
faculty, staff, and administrators allows us to present an annual conference at an extremely low cost.
You are invited to attend and participate in this annual event that brings computer educators from across the state and from all
walks of education together for professional collaboration, sharing of research and expertise, and a chance to participate in the
future of computer education in our own great state!
The ACET conference is designed for High School, College, and University Faculty, Staff and Administrators and invites proposals
from introductory to advanced level on all topics related to:
- Computer education in High School, Undergraduate, and Graduate Programs
- Professional development for faculty of High School, Undergraduate, and Graduate Programs

Please note: Reviewers may recommend and, therefore, accept your proposal under a different presentation category than originally submitted. We reserve that right in order to present a balanced representation of the conference topics.
PRESENTATION CATEGORIES
BEST PRACTICES SESSION
Presentation time: 50 minutes
Submission length:100-250 word abstract to be published in the Conference Program
AV equipment provided: PC, Projector, Internet
Best Practices session presenters discuss and demonstrate their organization's programs, strategies, techniques, issues, solutions, and courseware. This is an opportunity to inform attendees about the lessons learned and future plans from those who have designed, developed, and implemented computer instruction.
PAPERS (Proposals must be submitted 1 June 2007.)
Presentation time: 50 minutes
Submission length: 4-5 page paper (2000 - 2500 words) along with a 100-250 word abstract to be published in the Conference Program.
An Abstract is not sufficient to be evaluated as a Paper. Paper submissions must follow the submission guidelines for papers to the ACET Journal of Computer Education and Research. All accepted Paper submissions will be considered for inclusion for publication in the ACET Journal of Computer Education and Research.

Papers present reports of significant work or integrative reviews in research, development, applications, and societal issues related to all aspects of the conference topics.
PRECONFERENCE TUTORIALS/WORKSHOPS (Proposals must be submitted in First Call; not open for Final Call) All tutorials and workshops will be held during preconference days of Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 October 2007.
Presentation time: 4 or 8 hours (half day or whole day workshop)
Submission length:1-2 page topical outline with a 100-250 word abstract to be published in the Conference Program
AV equipment provided: Instructor PC, PC Lab, Projector, Internet
Tutorials and Workshops are intended to enhance the skills and broaden the perspective of their attendees. They should be designed to introduce a rigorous framework for learning a new area or to provide advanced technical training in an area. CPE credit will be issued for most workshops or tutorials. Workshops will be selected on the basis that proposals fit CPE criteria. Instructors' qualifications for teaching the proposed Tutorial or Workshop and their contribution to the overall conference program will also be a consideration. Workshops differ from Tutorials by involving hands-on experience with hardware/software provided.
NOTE: Please state in your proposal what equipment you will bring and what equipment you expect the conference to provide.
Tutorial/Workshop proposals must include:
- Clear description of the objectives
- Intended audience (experience level and prerequisites)
- Proposed length (3.5 hours or 7 hours)
- 100-250 word Abstract that will be printed in the Conference program
- 1-page topical outline of the content
- Summary of the instructor's qualifications
RESEARCH/POSTER SESSIONS
Presentation time: 2 hours
Submission length:100-250 word abstract to be published in the Conference Program
AV equipment provided: Table, 2 chairs, electricity (Internet may be available wirelessly. Details will be posted at a later date.)
Poster/Demonstration sessions enable researchers and non-commercial developers to demonstrate and discuss their latest results and developments in progress in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with similar projects. Student researchers are encouraged to participate in Poster Demonstrations.
Poster/Demonstration proposals must include a description of the planned Poster/Demonstration and should emphasize the problem, what was done, and why the work is important
Poster/Demonstration presenters will be required to arrange for their own systems software and hardware.
ACET Journal
ACET Journal of Computer Education and Research is an online, peer-reviewed journal designed to share insights on software, hardware, and educational strategies, to teach MIS, computer science, information technology, security, etc., to others who teach and/or research these areas.
All presented papers will be considered for publication in the ACET Journal of Computer Education and Research.
