ACET 2005 is coming to Cowtown!
Texas Christian University will welcome computer educators of all levels (high school though 4-yr universities)
from across the state to the Horned Frog campus
October 5-8. Preconference workshops and the majority of the conference will be held in the Tucker Technology Center
on TCU's main campus Oct 5-6 and Oct 7-8, respectively.
Keynote speaker, Paul Williams,
President and CTO of Gray Hat Research Corporation, will kick-off the conference at 8:30 Friday morning with an enlightening and fascinating presentation dealing with the topic of cyber terrorism
entitled "Who's Attacking Your Computer and Why?".
The remainder of the day Friday, and Saturday until noon, will feature concurrent sessions with 50 minute presentations. View the Conference Program here.
Other special presentations and events include the Friday luncheon with Diane Zak speaking on Visual Studio 2005, sponsored by Course Technology/Thomson Learning
and Friday night dinner and entertainment at Billy Bob's Texas generously sponsored by Microsoft and, in part, by Dean Mike McCracken of TCU's College of Science and Engineering.
Bradley Jensen and Alfred Thompson from Microsoft will also be presenting a preconference workshop on .NET and a conference session on Microsoft's Imagine Cup
immediately prior to the Friday night event.
Conference FAQs
- NEW this year! CPE credit for those signing up. ACET is a registered Texas State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) CPE Provider. Pre-conference workshops AND sessions though the body of the ACET 2005 Conference will award CPE credit. ACET will award CPE credit equal to the clock hour(s) per training session. A presentation of at least fifty minutes (50) in length, is eligible for one (1) CPE hour award. All conference sessions ARE scheduled for 50 minutes.
- Conference Registration: You MUST register by September 23rd to get the early registration rates
AND to be guaranteed of the FREE dinner and entertainment at Billy Bob’s Texas on Friday night, October 7th.
Please note that even though it is FREE, you DO HAVE TO SIGN-UP by Sept 23 to be guaranteed passes!

- Conference Parking: TCU will be on Fall Break Friday, Oct 7 and Saturday, Oct 8. Parking those days should not be too difficult and parking permits will not be required to park in white-lined, non-reserved parking spaces. Attendees to the conference Oct 7 & 8 should park in the lot North of the Tucker Technology Center on the corner of Greene Ave and W Lowden. (Follow the blue "ACET" signs turning East on Princeton St. off S. University Dr.)
Parking for the workshops held Wednesday and Thursday will be an issue, however. Workshop attendees are advised to arrive well before 8AM and park on the streets or in the lot North of Tucker Technology Center. Visitor Parking Passes are required Wednesday, Oct 5 and Thursday, Oct 6 (as TCU is still in session) and will be available at the ACET registration desk located at the North entrance of Tucker Technology Center - TTC139.
